Community Involvement

Rooted in the Communities We Call Home

At Alford Pest Control, being a local business means more than protecting Tri-State homes from pests. It means showing up for our neighbors. We don't just work here, we live here. For three generations, our family has been proud to stay active in the communities we serve across West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio, from local parades and home shows to toy drives, school supply collections, and highway cleanups. Giving back is simply part of who we are.

Local Causes & Events We Support

Giving back looks a little different every season, but the goal is always the same: showing up for the people and places that make the Tri-State home. Whether we're cleaning up a stretch of highway, collecting toys and school supplies, marching in a parade, or advocating for our industry, staying involved is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Here's a closer look at some of the ways our team gets out into the community throughout the year.

Adopt-A-Highway

Our team at Alford Pest Control has adopted a stretch of Jefferson Highway near Saint Albans, WV through the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection's Adopt-A-Highway Program. Several times a year, we pull on our safety vests and head out to clear litter, because keeping the roads we drive every day clean and beautiful is one more way we look after the place we call home.

Local Home Shows

You'll catch our crew at the region's biggest home shows every year, from the West Virginia Home Show at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center to the WSAZ Home & Garden Show at the Marshall Health Network Arena in Huntington and the Great American Home Show at WVU Parkersburg. We love these events because they give us the chance to meet our neighbors face to face and talk through whatever pest questions are on their minds.

Charleston Christmas Parade

The Charleston Christmas Parade is one of our favorite traditions, and we wouldn't miss it. During the 2025 holiday parade, our team rolled through downtown alongside the Grinch and handed candy out to the families lining the route, spreading a little extra cheer around the holidays.

Ripley 4th of July Parade

We had a blast at the 2024 Ripley 4th of July Parade! Our decorated truck and our mascot made their way down the route while we celebrated Independence Day with the community. Thanks to everyone who came out, and we hope you caught some candy from us along the way.

Union Mission Foster Care Holiday Toy Event

During the 2025 holiday season, our own Pest Manager Kenny Nance volunteered at the Foster Care Kinship Toy Event at the Union Mission Warehouse in Charleston, WV. We were honored to help organize, load, and unload toys for local children in foster care, and we're grateful to Union Mission for letting us be part of such a meaningful effort.

WOWK 13 News Toys for Tots Drive

For several years running, including 2025, our team has teamed up with WOWK 13 News as a designated drop-off location for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive. Serving as a collection point is a simple way we can help make the holidays a little brighter for kids across the Tri-State.

WOWK 13 News School Supply Drive

In 2024, we partnered with WOWK 13 News to serve as a school supply drive drop-off location, gathering paper, pencils, pens, dry-erase boards, binders, folders, backpacks, and more. We were glad to do our part to help local students head back to the classroom ready to learn.

Hurricane Helene Flood Donation Drive

When flooding from Hurricane Helene hit our neighbors hard in October 2024, we opened our doors as a donation drop-off location to collect much-needed supplies. Coming together to support recovery and rebuilding is exactly what community means to our team.

Alford in Washington, D.C.

In March 2026, we joined more than 450 industry professionals in Washington, D.C. for the National Pest Management Association's Legislative Day to educate legislators on the pest control industry, the growing wildlife sector, and our shared priorities for protecting homes and communities. We're proud to advocate for the homeowners we serve, all the way to the nation's capital.
